Instead of having a yardsale with all of the junk you would like to get rid of, sell it on ebay! Ebay allows you to market your odds and ends to the world. Your junk may be someone else's treasure! My guide is a simple introduction to some great ideas of items you can list on Ebay that you may end up donating or throwing away.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Ebay Account
  • Paypal Account
  • Things to Sell
  1. Step 1

You can sell old clothes online. Name brands fetch a lot more money than you would be able to get at a neighborhood yardsale or even through consignment. Juniors clothes are also very popular items on Ebay, both new and used. Some juniors brands that fetch good money are Abercrombie, American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Hollister. I would suggest researching the type of clothing you have on ebay to find the going price before listing it, that way you can set a starting price that you are comfortable with. Ebay currently offers 5 free listings a month!

  2. Step 2

Media such as DVDs, CDs, and books are great items to sell on Ebay as well. Textbooks for instance have a huge market before both the fall and spring semester. I would suggest selling textbooks on Ebay because in general the bookstore gives an unfair amount when they buy back textbooks. A subsidiary of Ebay that specializes in media is half.com. I would suggest Ebay as well as half.com for selling media items.

  3. Step 3

In summary, people can generally sell anything on Ebay. In addition to items you may find around your house to sell on Ebay, you may want to scope out local yard sales in search of fantastic deals. You can then list these items on Ebay and make great profits! I pretty much do it all the time!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you research on ebay the item that you want to sell
  • Make sure you set up a paypal account, it is the safest and most secure way to receive payment from individuals that win your items.
  • Always attempt to mail items for the cheapest amount possible, but yet pack the items well. For media, I would suggest using the U.S. Postal Service's media mail option. It is cheaper than regular postage for shipping packages.
  • For any items that you sell that make a lot of money, I would suggest adding delivery confirmation so there is a record that the person received the item.
