How to Effectively Advertise Online for Free

If you look at the top when you do a search on Google, MSN, Yahoo etc. you will see two columns, the search results for your search (non paying website owners) and the sponsored search results for your search ( paying website owners). Now which would you rather be? If you are a big company that has thousands of dollars to invest in online advertising then the "pay" option may be the best for you. But if you are like the rest of us, you are wanting to be on the left. Who are the website owners that rank top ten? They are websites who links are shared and searched multiple times. To get your website or blog searched frequently and rise to the top of the engines here are some steps to follow.

1. 

   Viral advertising. Viral advertising is an online method of advertising. It can be compared to MLM. Its when Joe signs up under Anthony and Anthony's ad is placed on Joe's page. So all Joe's traffic will view Anthony's ad. This will benefit Anthony when someone either clicks on that ad or clicks and purchases. Joe's ad is placed on members of his downline and so on so forth.    Link sharing. This form of online advertising works like micro-blogging sites like twitter or facebook. There is a common interface within the network that allows the profile owner to post links. But unlike twitter and facebook you don't have to invite friends for your links to be viewed and clicked. Because every time you publish a link it is visible on the front page.    Free classifieds - Sites like yellowpages online, craigslist, kijiji, Merchant Circle, free advertising exchange, google, zurpit and any other local advertising site are good routes for free ads.Every so often it is good to do searches for "Free local classifieds" There are new companies opening online all the time and offer free ads. As a matter of fact that is how companies like ebay got started. Some start free then charge later after they get popular but until then, enjoy the ride! (see "Free advertising" resources below )

   Search engine submission - This is exactly what it sounds like. You are submitting your site or blog to the search engines. When submitting your sites make sure you read and follow any guidelines. Don't want to get rejected because of something you did or did not do. With that said, here is my personal list:
