Remove The Frosted Surface From a Frosted Glass Ornament

Frosted glass ornaments are more fragile than clear glass ornaments because the surface can be easily scratched, stained or chipped off leaving the ornament ruined.

Sometimes frosted ornaments can be damaged just from removing them from the package, or from the oils in your hands when handled too much.

Because of this, frosted ornaments are sold for considerably less. Sometimes less than 50% less on Ebay! But under every frosted ornament lies a perfect clear glass ornament!

Carefully remove the metal top. (it can be done without removing it, but it is more difficult to scrub around)

  2. Step 2

Soak the bulb in a sink or plastic container of warm soapy water. Any dish soap will work. Approx 1 teaspoon per gallon of water.

  3. Step 3

Gently rotate bulb after about 30 seconds so that the other side gets soaked. Be careful of the sharp edge, and be cautious of bumping and breaking the bulbs together if you are soaking more than one.

  4. Step 4

After about 30 seconds on the other side - gently rub your fingers or a wash cloth on the surface and the frosted surface should slide right off!

  5. Step 5

Rinse the soap suds and any remaining pieces of frosted coating off.

  6. Step 6

Dry upside down in your dish strainer and carefully put the top back on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not remove the metal top from an already cracked ornament
