Simple steps on how to cook rice on the stove

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • rice
  • pot
  • electric or gas stove
  1. Step 1

It is easy to prepare rice on a stove. One-half cup of uncooked rice makes about 1 serving. This set of directions is for 2 servings. Place one cup of water in a boiling pot that has a fitted top. Bring the water to rolling boil. This should take about 3-4 minutes depending on how long your burner takes to warm up and the setting the burner is on (9-8-7, Hi-Lo etc)

  2. Step 2

Pour one cup of rice into the boiling water. Remove the pot from the burner. Stir in rice. Cover the pot with the fitted top.

  3. Step 3

Let rice stand for 5 minutes or until water is absorbed. Seasonings, spices, salt and/or butter can be added at this point. For more servings, just use these figures: 4 servings- use 2 cups of water and 2 cups of rice; 6 servings- use 3 cups of water and 3 cups of rice. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try rice with only salt and other seasonings and no butter- it tastes better!
