Instructions

    • 1

Sit with your child and discuss the behavior or behaviors that you would like to work on. Make sure that they understand what behavior is wrong, and exactly what behavior is expected from them. Set goals to work towards, and have prizes ready to give for when they reach those goals.

    • 2

Either make a chart together, or go on to the computer and print a chart from one of the many free sites available. Let them choose which one they like from the many characters and themes available.

    • 3

As your child corrects his or her behavior, let them mark it on the chart with either stickers or colored markers. When they reach the goal either for the week, or reach a certain number of stickers, let them choose from the prizes. You can then either print off a new chart, or make a new one.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can laminate a chart and use dry erase markers to cut down on paper

  • Try not to have negative consequences for not providing the behavior you are looking for. Just encourage them to do it next time so they can add a sticker to their chart.

  • It is better to concentrate on just one or two specific behaviors at a time. If it is to general it will be difficult to decide if a sticker is earned or not.
