How to Mount Roller Blinds
Roller blinds consist of a sheet of fabric or material that wraps around a roller bar. A cord is used to pull the blind down, and a locking mechanism in the roller bar causes the blind to engage and remain in the selected position until it is pulled again. Mounting a roller blind is similar to mounting other types of blinds because the process includes mounting brackets on or near the window and placing the blinds' roller bar into the brackets. 1
Measure the width of the roller blinds from one end of the roller bar to the other. This will determine how far apart you need to place the mounting brackets. A new set of roller blinds will include mounting brackets and instructions on how to mount the blinds.
-
2
Draw in pencil the marks for the location of the mounting brackets, determined by using the tape measure and the blinds' width measurement. Add ¼ inch on each side to the blinds' width measurement to allow room to slide the roller bar into place. Mounting brackets come in two types: those that sit flush against the window jamb and those that protrude from the wall or window frame.

3
Level the mounting marks. This can be done by placing a water level at both ends of the pencil marks and adjusting the marks as needed according to the level's readings. Both mounts need to be aligned and level for the shade to work properly.
-
4
Place the mounting brackets over the pencil lines and use either screws and a screwdriver or nails and a hammer (whichever fastener comes with the blinds) to attach the roller blind's mounting brackets onto the wall, window frame or window jamb.
-
5
Roll up the roller blinds to keep the blinds out of the way while you hang the roller bar in the mounting brackets. Secure the blinds in a tight roll with rubber bands or string.
-
6
Slide the ends of the blind's roller bar into the mounting brackets. The ends of the roller bar have male connectors that fit into female connectors on the brackets. Hang the blinds so the roll opens to the inside; this means that the roll is visible and not covered by the blind when viewed from the inside the room.

7
Pull the string or rubber band used in Step 5 so you can slide a scissor arm underneath to cut it, releasing the blinds.
