How to Open a Zip File Without a Password
If you put a password on a ZIP file and then lose or forget it, then you won't be able to "unzip" the files to get access to the files inside of it. Fortunately, there are programs you can download for free that will help you recover the password to your ZIP file so that you can use your files once more.

1
Download a program that can help you unlock the password in a ZIP file if you don't have it. Examples include Ultimate Zip Cracker and Zip Key.
-
2
Click on the "Download Now" link to begin downloading the program. Install it by opening the installation file and going through the installation process. This will involve choosing a directory for where the program will go.

3
Begin the program when ready by opening the shortcut icon on your desktop. Click on the "Open" button and when the browse window appears, find your ZIP file and double-click on it. Click on "Method of attack" or something with similar wording and choose how you would like the program to try to crack your ZIP file. For example, "Brute Force" will try random letter combinations, and "dictionary" will try words from a dictionary.

4
Click "Start" when ready and the program will begin trying to find your lost ZIP password. Depending on the type of attack you chose, this could take quite a while. If the attack is successful, you should be informed of what the password is, and you can then use it to open your ZIP file.
