How to Mount Curtain Brackets on Drywall

Mounting curtain brackets onto drywall is a common thing for people to do, especially since most homes today are built with drywall. It is not difficult to do and can be done in just a matter of minutes. It is also not necessary to mount the brackets into studs, though if you can find the studs it would be ideal, especially if the curtains you are hanging are heavy.

Things You'll Need

• Curtain Brackets
• Power Drill with a Phillips Bit
• Measuring Tape
• Pencil

Instructions

1. Decide how high and wide you want to hang your curtains from around the window.

2. Measure the spot where you will hang the brackets. Use a pencil to mark the points.

3. Drill a pilot hole, using a hole drilling bit, directly on the marked spots. The size you use will vary depending on the size of the anchors or screws that come with your bracket. The average size that you would need would be approximately 1/8- to 3/16-inch.

4. Place anchors into the drilled pilot holes.

5. Place bracket over the anchors, lining the holes on the bracket up with the anchors.

6. Drill the screws that come with the brackets into the anchors. This will secure the brackets firmly to the wall. Hang the curtain rod on the brackets.
