Apply a skin smoothing eyeshadow base from just below your eyebrows to the creases of your closed eyelid. Doing so will help prevent cracking or creasing in your eye makeup. Most drugstores and stores carrying makeup have eyeshadow base in stock with prices ranging from four to nine dollars. If you do not want to purchase eyeshadow base, it is possible to use foundation or concealer as a substitute.

Choose an eyeshadow color that will compliment the clothing that you plan to wear in your pictures. For best results choose two different shades of the same color or shades that compliment each other (or your clothing). Using darker eyeshadow colors such as purples, dark reds, and greens will add a dramatic flair to your pictures.

Apply the darker eyeshadow color to the creases over your closed eyelid. Do not be afraid to apply the makeup heavily since you want to it to be noticeable. Once you have finished with the darker shade apply the lighter shade of the color to the area just below your eyebrow ridges until you reach the creases of your eyelid where the darker shade has already been applied.

Line your eyes using a white or off white eyeliner. Using white eyeliner will make your eyes look larger and enhance your pictures. If you are unable to purchase a white eyeliner try using gray or dark blue eyeliner, since both will enhance your eyes and give your eyes a dramatic, unique look.

Curl your eyelashes prior to adding mascara. Curling your eyelashes first will help you get the best results when using mascara that promises to add volume to your eyelashes or lengthen them. If you forget to curl your eyelashes before using mascara, be sure to wait until your mascara is completely dry. Trying to curl eyelashes while the mascara is wet will often smear the mascara and/or cause your eyelashes to clump.

Tips & Warnings

  • Having your eyebrows waxed and shaped prior to your photos will enhance the effects of your eye makeup.
