Reattach a new vane after you have removed it by following the steps above. The vane holder in the head rail has a rectangular hole which the stem fits into. Align the carrier stem that you are adjusting with this hole. Push a piece of string into hole in the stem. Grab the stem and push it into the holder. Pull the rotation chain. he one that needs to be adjusted will not move. Use the chain to rotate all the other stems to line up with the stem that needs to be adjusted. Grab both ends of the string, while gently tugging down to put the stem back into place. Pop the vane back in position.

Find the vane carrier by looking inside the head rail where the cord is tied in a knot to shorten a cord length. Grab the carrier and pull out the excess cord until the cord safety device reaches the correct length. Re-tie a knot at that point. Make sure the controls are operating correctly. Cut just below the knot with scissors.

Eliminate spaces between adjacent blinds by creating an overlap. Peer inside the head rail and you can see many small white c- shaped tubes attached at the ends. Use a screwdriver to remove one or more of the tubes to allow the the vanes to move closer to the edge, which will get rid of the gaps.

Remove the control end cap with a screwdriver if the control chain is not moving easily. Look inside and there will be a pulley with a rod in the middle. There is a round metal washer on the rod. Gently tap the control rod on one end with a screwdriver, which will loosen the push nut that is attached to it. The control should start operating easier.
