1
Have your utility companies mark the existing underground lines to avoid physical injury, loss of utilities or expensive damages. It can take several days for them to mark their lines, so plan ahead and call early.
-
2
Decide where to put your transmitter box. in a weatherproof area that is close to where pet access area and to an electrical outlet. Garages and carports are logical spots for a transmitter box.

3
Choose where your pet will have access. Some people just want their pet to stay close to home; others have structures they do not want their pets to have access to. This might include a pool, flowerbeds, or a child's play area.
-
4
Calculate the boundary line in relation to the pet's access area. The collar you put on your pet will make a beeping noise when it hits the boundary line to warn of the electrical shock coming. The boundary line should be about 3 to 4 ft. from the pet's access area. It should also make a loop so that the invisible fence will make a complete circuit.

Tips & Warnings
Plan your invisible fence installation on paper so you have a physical map when digging and laying the invisible fence wiring.
If you lay wire too close to another wire on the same radio frequency, they will cancel each other out. Wires that run parallel to each other should be at least 8 ft. apart.
