How to Beat Depression & Jealousy

We've all heard the old adage, "Watch what you say." On the contrary, when a person is experiencing depression or feelings of jealousy, it is what they are thinking that creates the difficulty. In order to beat either mental state, you must first recognize the thoughts that are causing your feelings of depression and jealousy. Both of these states are direct reflections of low self-esteem that can affect anyone regardless of age, profession or social status. Restructuring the pattern of your habitual thoughts will completely transform the way you experience your life. Depression and jealousy will be distant memories as long as you are diligently choosing your thoughts.

  1. Clarify Your Intentions

      In as much detail as possible, write down the situations, relationships and circumstances that appear to be causing you pain.

      Clearly define, in writing, the way you would like these situations, relationships and circumstances to appear differently in your life.

      Create a visual representation of what you'd prefer to occur by cutting out images and symbols that represent the vision you are now creating mentally.

      Allow yourself to reflect on what this process has shown you about yourself and what you really want. Practice reflecting on this visually by giving attention to your new visual representation and by writing what you want three times each night before bed.

    Refocus Your Attention

      Acknowledge that changing your state of mind can only being achieved by you. First thing in the morning, give yourself 10 minutes to focus on new, empowering and affirming thoughts that can replace those that only yielded you depression and jealousy.

      Record affirmations that help you to see yourself in a more positive light and eventually come to a sense of value and worthiness. These are called auto-suggestions, which means that they are affirmations that comes from yourself.

      Use your new auto-suggestions to practice affirming thoughts that will dissolve the old feeling of inadequacy and unworthiness that have caused your depression and feelings of jealousy in the past.

      Continue these practices for at least 30 days and enjoy your new found freedom from painful thinking. It does not work overnight, but the results will last a lifetime.
