Mount smoke detectors throughout your home. Check all batteries to make sure they are operating. Try installing extra smoke detectors near where the teen smokes. If there are several throughout the house, the detectors will go off when your teen smokes. Not only will this warn you that your teen is smoking, but after having to turn the smoke detector off repeatedly , your teen may move outside to smoke. Warn your teen in advance that the smoke detectors are for safety and should never to be turned off. That way, he won't try to get around your plan by turning them off, so he can continue smoking in the house.
