How to Steam Press a Men's Dress Suit
A home steam press will keep your suits looking sharp, and save you many trips to the dry cleaners. And although good steam presses cost between $100 and $300, the system will quickly pay for itself. On top of all that, steam presses can clean and press a variety of items in just a few minutes---unlike the iron you may already be using at home. There is, however, an art to perfectly pressing your suit, so follow these steps. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Switch on steam press. Check the water level and add water if it needs it. Add more water when the level gets below one-quarter full.
-
2
Set the temperature dial to a setting that matches your fabric. If your dress suit is cotton, put it on the "cotton" setting; if it's wool, put the dial on the "wool" setting. Wait for the indicator light to signal that the press is hot.

3
Lay your suit coat flat on steam press. Smooth out any creases so you don't press them into the fabric.
-
4
Lower the press top and wait a few seconds. Lift the press top. If wrinkles remain, lower the press top again. A home steam press will not be big enough to press an entire suit all at once, so you will have to move the suit into position five or six times to press the entire thing. As you do with a regular iron, you can move the suit around on the press to get all of it done. Repeat the process for the pants and dress shirt.
