Allow the wood oil to dry completely before proceeding. Damp wood won't take a layer of wax very well.

Pour some wood wax onto a clean rag and, like the oil, rub it onto the unpainted wood trim. The oil's clear wax layer will protect the wood. Be conservative with the wood wax because a large buildup can hide the wood's beauty and may require a wax stripper to smooth out.
