How to Remove Sticky Trap Glue

Glue traps can be an effective method for catching rodents found in your home. Unfortunately, the rat traps can be overturned by accident, and the glue can end up on your floors. Mishandling the traps can also result in glue landing on your hands or clothes. Fortunately, cleaning glue from a rodent trap is a simple process.

Things You'll Need:

    Removing Glue from People, Pets or Clothing

  1. Step 1

    Apply the vegetable oil to the area affected by the glue, and allow it to sit for several minutes. The oil helps break down the compounds in the glue.

  2. Step 2

    Rub off the oil with the rag, which will remove the glue in the process.

  3. Step 3

    Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until all of the glue has been removed.

  4. Step 4

    Clean the area with soapy water.

  5. Removing Glue from Floors

  6. Step 1

    Apply vegetable oil to the glue in the affected area of flooring.

  7. Step 2

    Use Goo Be Gone on any glue that remains after the vegetable oil treatment.

  8. Step 3

    Rub any remaining glue with turpentine or paint thinner to remove particularly tough patches of glue.

  9. Step 4

    Clean the affected area with soapy water to remove any remaining residue from the cleaning agents.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before cleaning your floor with any of the agents described above, test the compounds on a small and out-of-sight patch of flooring to make sure that they won't create any damage.
