Instructions

  1. Using Your Wilton Bunny Cake Pan

    • 1

Preheat your oven according to the directions for your cake recipe. Wash and dry the Wilton bunny cake pan if it is the first time you are using it. Prepare the Wilton bunny cake with cooking spray, making sure that all the crevices and details have been covered. Holding the pan in one hand, pur in ¼ cup of flour and shake the pan gently to make sure that the flour creates a thin, even surface. Discard any excess flour. You may wish to turn the pan upside down and tap it gently against the counter or sink if you notice that flour has accumulated in any of the pan details, like the eye or bow.

    • 2

Prepare your favorite cake, using a recipe from scratch or a cake mix. Fill the Wilton bunny cake from ½ to ¾ full, which leaves ample room for the cake to expand while cooking. Place the pan in the oven and set the timer to the recommended cooking time for your recipe.

    • 3

When the timer rings, check to see if your cake is fully cooked. It should have risen and become somewhat browned. When you stick a toothpick in, it should come out clean or with a few crumbs sticking to it. If the toothpick comes out coated with uncooked cake mix, leave your cake in the oven for another five to ten minutes. When fully cooked, remove your cake from the oven and put it on a cooling tray.

    • 4

Your cake must cool for a minimum of fifteen to twenty minutes before you remove it from the pan. You can remove the cake when the pan is cool to the touch and the cake has pulled back from the sides of the Wilton bunny pan. Place the large cake plate over the pan. Use both hands to firmly hold the plate over the pan, and carefully flip the pan and plate over. Once the cake plate is resting on the counter, carefully remove the Wilton bunny pan from the cake.

    • 5

Before you start frosting your bunny cake, tear off small strips of wax paper. Place five or six strips of wax paper under the bottom of your cake. When you finish frosting, you can remove the trips and have a clean plate under your decorated cake.

    • 6

Now for the fun part! Make sure your bunny cake has cooled completely before icing it. Decorate your cake with the colors and icing tips you prefer. You can also use coconut, sprinkles or toasted almonds as decoration. Remove the wax paper from between the cake and cake plate before cutting and serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a cake carrier if you plan to take your bunny cake to a party. If you do not have a cake carrier, place six to eight toothpicks on top of your cake and lightly cover your cake with wax paper when transporting it. The toothpicks will hold the paper above the cake's surface, preventing it from being damaged.

  • If you have cake batter left over, make cupcakes.
