Things You'll Need:
- 10 lb. bag of potatoes
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 1/2 cups of milk
- 1/2 sour cream
- 1 tablespoon of salt & pepper
- 1 tablespoon of parsley
- Large pot with lid
- Large bowl
- Potato masher and mixer
-
Step 1
Begin by peeling and rinsing off a ten pound bag of potatoes. Cut each potato into four slices. Place potatoes in a large pot, and cover with water.
-
Step 2
Place pot on stove, turn to medium high heat, with the lid on. Cook potatoes until they are fork tender. Usually between 30-40 minutes. Potatoes cook much faster with the lid on.
-
Step 3
Drain potatoes into the strainer in the kitchen sink. Be sure you allow the potatoes to drain for up to five minutes to remove all the water.
-
Step 4
Once the potatoes have drained, place them into a large bowl. Start to mash the potatoes with a masher or a fork.
-
Step 5
Add one tablespoon of salt, pepper and parsley inside of the mashed up potatoes.
-
Step 6
Cut up sticks of butter into small slices and add them as well to the mashed up potatoes.
-
Step 7
With a potato masher or a hand mixer, begin to blend the potatoes with all the ingredients you have added so far.
-
Step 8
One mixed, start adding the 1 1/2 cups of warm milk slowly to the potatoes until the desired consistency is reached. Now is the time to taste and add more salt, pepper and butter if necessary. Once to your liking, place inside of a serving bowl and enjoy!
