How to receive dental care if uninsured.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Dental Care can be extremely costly and good dental care is imperative to overall good health. Many Americans may not have dental insurance coverage due to job loss or lack of adequate coverage. There are some alternatives that can make dental care more affordable and manageable.

  2. Step 2

First, some family dental clinics perform excellent dental care at a fraction of what most dentists would charge. They may even offer the patient a time payment plan to make the care more affordable.

  3. Step 3

In addition, there are several “dental plans”, not insurance. There plans offer anywhere from a 30% to 50% discount on general dental procedures as well as major dental repairs. For example, some of the plans offer dental crown for $550 as opposed to $1,000 per tooth.

  4. Step 4

Finally, some dental colleges have clinics that allow students to work on patients for a discounted rate. You may have to make an appointment at least 3 months in advance due to a large waiting list.
