A creepy, fun way to cover your furniture for Halloween!
A creepy, fun way to cover your furniture for Halloween!

Having a family that just loves Halloween, I'm always on the lookout for great ideas for projects. Recently, we took and transformed white sheets into creepy, bloody furniture covers just right for the spooky Halloween season. They were a big hit at our annual Halloween party and your friends and family members will surely love them too!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White sheets in varying sizes depending on the size of the furniture you will be covering.
  • Fake blood. You can make your own using corn syrup and red food coloring, however I just bought a large jug at the party store.
  • Bowl
  • Toothbrush
  • Fork
  • Bare hands and feet for prints!
  1. Step 1

Start off by finding the right size white sheets to cover the furniture of your choice. King size sheets work great on large couches, queen or full size sheets work nicely on love-seats and twin size sheets work fine on recliners and other chairs.

Lay your sheets out on a flat surface. To minimize the potential for a mess, we took our sheets outside on the grass to get them all bloodied up! If you decide to work on them inside, take care to use drop cloths or plastic sheeting to protect your area.

If you have kids, they love this part! Get a container for dipping hands, utensils or even feet into the fake blood. We found that a container with a flat bottom worked great for hand and foot prints. We also used a tooth brush and fork to pick up the fake blood to splatter it across the sheets. Of course, you can use your imagination and use whatever blood spattering utensil that you can think of!

  4. Step 4

Finally, for the sheets to dry, we hung ours up on the swing set outdoors. By hanging them when they were dry, we got to create an added dripping effect to the spots that were still wet. However, you can also leave your sheets to dry flat if you wish! Also, a clothesline would also work great for drying your Halloween decorated sheets!

Tips & Warnings
  • Try black sheets with white paint! Add a black light for a spooky, glowing effect!
  • Let kids get creative! Have them write creepy words on the fake blood covered Halloween furniture covers!
  • Be sure that kids do not ingest any of the fake blood during this Halloween project!
  • Wear clothing that you are not afraid to get dirty. Some fake blood products tend to stain clothes!
