The Untied States government is promoting recycling. The movement to go green and recycle what you can is spreading. Businesses, youth groups, church organizations, individuals and other foundations can take advantage of grants available when involved in a recycling project.

      To find Grants for a tire recycling project go to your local Department of Environmental Quality office. Many state governments are making good use of tire taxes by awarding those groups and individuals who make good use of the tires in a recyclable project. Some of the money will go to the cities to help rebuild road, some will go to playgrounds, while other grant money will go to groups with original ideas. In most cases the project will need to be something that will value to or help the community.

      To find grant money to bring local awareness for recycling and green living contact your local Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Grants large and small are available to put up recycling bins, give public awareness classes, and arrange for maintenance of the recycling program. Grant funding is typically awarded to schools, colleges, universities, municipalities, and not-for-profit organizations (including youth groups, churches, community organizations, etc). Most grants require the group to match at least 25% of the funds received.

      Contact the local Department of Environmental Conservation for information regarding grant funding to enhance municipal recycling infrastructure through purchasing of equipment or construction of facilities. At this level some grants may go to pay for small projects but most grants will go to help with funding projects that help after the collections have been picked up.

      Businesses, foundations, and schools that are seeking funding for new recycling pilot program should contact the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The agency funds programs that deal with program development or pilot projects which promote waste reduction, recycled-content products, and finding markets for recycled material. Funds may also be obtained to help in the development of solid waste management plans and dump clean up projects. This agency also fund grass route recycling projects.
