Things You'll Need:
- Cat(s)
- Cat bed
- Fleece blanket
- Cat brush
-
Step 1
Monitor your thermostat and make sure it does not go down too low. Many cats have thick coats, but this does not mean they do not get cold. When you leave for work or errands do not turn your heater off or down too low. This can cause your cat to get really cold.
-
Step 2
Provide your cat, cats, or kitten with a cat bed or pet bed. Purchase a cat bed with a fleece lining to keep your cat warm during the winter. If the cat bed is not lined with fleece, buy a fleece blanket and place it in your cat's bed. This will help keep them warm.
-
Step 3
If you have an outdoor cat periodically check to see how they are dealing with the cold weather. If they look cold, and it is possible, let them come into the house during the coldest parts of the night. If this is not possible provide them a warm cat bed outside.
-
Step 4
Make sure your cat is up to date on their shots, especially if they are outside cats. This will keep their immunity high during the winter.
-
Step 5
Keep your cat well groomed during the winter. Buy a cat brush and groom your cat's coat a few times a week.
