For most of us describing ourselves in a flattering light is not an easy task. However, in the online dating world it's crucial to put modesty aside and put your best foot (or words) forward!

Things You'll Need:

  • Self-confidence to properly portray yourself
  1. Step 1

Think of yourself as others see you. How have your friends described you? What traits have they chosen as your best? Ask them! This can be a great way to know which features of your personality to showcase in the profile.

  2. Step 2

Keep it brief. No one really wants to date a narcissist and going on and on about yourself could come off as such. Also, you don't want to give everything away before actually connecting with someone. Less is more, keep the mystique. Four to five well worded sentences should do the trick.

  3. Step 3

Keep it positive. Don't berate yourself or use negative language. It's a turn off and will only attract other negative individuals.

Tips & Warnings
  • A sense of humor is very attractive so use yours.
  • Keep it light, dating is supposed to be fun so let your glass half full mentality shine
  • Avoid the phrase "my friends say I'm..." even though I suggested that you ask your friends about your best traits it's not a good idea to broadcast that you did so.
  • If you have children avoid talking about them in great length. This profile is about YOU! Details regarding your children can come later and it's safer to keep that information private initially.
