Next time you go to the grocery store, ask for paper bags instead of plastic. Paper bags can be recycled into a number of crafts, including homemade scrapbooks. This is a good craft for kids to do on a rainy day because they can do it at the kitchen table. Kids will also like this project because they can customize their paper bag scrapbook any way they want.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 12-by-6-inch paper bags
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Three-hole paper punch
  • Decorations (stickers, pictures, clip art)
  1. Step 1

Cut off the bottom square of the paper bag and throw it away. This creates a tube. Cut a line down the paper bag so that the tube becomes one flat piece of paper.

  2. Step 2

Cut the paper bags into 6-by-6-inch squares. Make the squares all the same size so that the scrapbook has matching pages.

  3. Step 3

Punch holes along the left side of each square with a three-hole paper punch.

  4. Step 4

Choose how many pages you want for your scrapbook. The first and last page of your scrapbook is your cover. Decorate your first and last page with pictures, stamps, glitter drawings and paint.

  5. Step 5

Cut two pieces of 6-by-6-inch clear laminate. Carefully cover the decorated side of the first and last page with a piece of laminate. The lamination will keep your paper bag scrapbook looking like new for a long time.

  6. Step 6

Line the first and last pages up in the three-hole punch so that it punches holes through the laminate exactly where the holes are in the paper.

  7. Step 7

Cut 12 inches of ribbon. Stack all of your pages so that the holes in the left side line up. Make sure that your cover page is on top and your back cover page is on the bottom with the decorations facing down.

  8. Step 8

Thread the ribbon in and out of the holes. Bring the ends of the ribbon to the front of the scrapbook and tie them in a bow or a knot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut out the 6-by-6-inch squares with scrapbook scissors or pinking shears for a pretty edge.
  • Supervise young children when they are using scissors.
