A shower towel wrap makes a great gift for yourself and everyone else in your life. The function of this project can be appreciated by all. The towel wrap can first be used for drying yourself after a bath, shower or swimming, then wrapped around your body as a cover-up. Towels tucked into themselves often come undone and can leave the wearer exposed. This towel wrap will stay nicely in place until you decide to remove it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 towel, size to be determined
  • Sewing thread (in a coordinating color)
  • 1 package of adhesive backed hook and loop tape
  • Straight pins
  • Marker
  1. Step 1

Measure the bust for a woman's towel wrap and the waistline for a man's wrap. Measuring with the towel itself is the easiest way to accomplish this task. Place the towel around the appropriate area of the body and mark with a marker on the inside of the towel where the two pieces meet.

  2. Step 2

Hold hook and loop tape from the end of the inner side of the outer layer of the towel to the mark you previously made with the marker. Cut the tape at this mark. Pin loop side of tape here. Use this cut piece of hook and loop tape for a pattern to measure the hook side of the tape that will face opposite it.

  3. Step 3

Cut hook side of tape. Place hook side of tape to the opposite end of towel from the loop side. Pin tape on the outer side of the inner layer of the towel. Make sure that the fit and placement are correct by placing the towel around the measured body if possible.

  4. Step 4

Sew the tape in place either with a sewing machine or by hand stitching. Sew around all four of the edges of both pieces of hook and loop tape.

  5. Step 5

Wear your shower towel wrap. You are now ready to wear your new shower towel wrap at the beach or pool, or around the house with confidence and not endure any more embarrassing un-tucks.

Tips & Warnings
  • When making the shower towel wrap for a gift or when measurements are not available, follow these guidelines. Use:
  • -- Hand towel and 5 inches of hook and loop tape for very small children.
  • -- Standard towel and 7 inches of hook and loop tape for women and older children.
  • -- Bath towel and 10 inches of hook and loop tape for men and larger adults.
  • -- Bath sheet and 12 inches of hook and loop tape for really large adults.
  • For best results attach the tape pieces together before laundering to prevent the hook side of the tape from becoming full of lint and losing its ability to adhere.
