How to Recover Deleted XP Files
When a file is deleted in Windows XP, it is not removed from the hard drive immediately. Instead, the reference to the file is deleted. Until the area of the hard drive where the file was stored is written over, file recovery software can find and restore the deleted file. If you delete a file accidentally, use one of the many available utilities for XP file recovery to restore it on your computer. This article walks you through the steps for using NTFS Undelete, a free, simple-to-use utility; other file recovery utilities work similarly.
