Depression is something that affects millions of Americans every year. It can be quite frustrating when you are depressed because you just don't know where to turn or even know how to deal with it. It can be especially difficult not to bring it into the workplace and have it affect the way you work and act around your co-workers.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep a journal with you at all times to find out when you are depressed most. The first thing to do when dealing with depression is to find out what is setting you off the most. A journal is something you can keep with you at all times to be able to look back and see what is causing the problem.

  2. Step 2

Try not to bring your problems into work. This can be one of the hardest things to do, but it is important to not bring your outside life into work. It is best to keep to yourselves sometimes at work and do your job--to leave the socializing to a minimum.

  3. Step 3

Find a job or career that interests you. Sometimes the depression is caused by hating your workplace so much. You may want to consider start looking for another career that you may enjoy more. Thinking about how much you dislike your job on a daily basis will only lead to more depression.

  4. Step 4

Try not to become overwhelmed with work. You want to make sure that you keep on top of things, so you do not become depressed. Make sure you do not take on too many tasks just to look good.

  5. Step 5

Make sure you have plenty of sunlight. If you work in an environment with not a lot of light, go outside during your break times. This will keep you in a better mood when you are at work and help you get through the day when you are depressed.
