Whether you've had a sticker on your shirt all day from donating at the blood drive, or your child comes home from her friend's house covered head to toe in stickers, getting sticker adhesive off of a shirt can be a sticky situation. To make matters worse, placing a shirt with sticker glue on it in the laundry can ruin an entire batch of clothes. Keep stickers from ruining your family's clothing by acting quickly when removing sticker glue.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Duct tape
  • Ice cube
  • Adhesive remover
  • Paper towel
  • Butter
  1. Step 1

Press on the glue with duct tape. Duct tape contains a stronger adhesive than most stickers and will take any excess adhesive along with it.

  2. Step 2

Rub ice on the sticker residue. The ice will freeze the residue, making it less sticky and easier to remove. Peel up the residue with your fingers to remove.

  3. Step 3

Dab the area with adhesive remover. You can purchase adhesive remover at your local drugstore or grocery store. Using a paper towel, dab the area. Gently peel away the sticker glue with your fingers.

  4. Step 4

Rub the area with butter. Cut a small slice of butter and gently rub it over the area. Again, peel the glue residue away with your fingers.

  5. Step 5

Dip a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol, then saturate the area with the liquid. Let the area sit for several minutes, then peel up the sticker residue.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some liquid adhesive removers are not meant for clothing and will stain fabrics. Check the label before using on your clothes.
  • Keep rubbing alcohol out of the reach of children.
