Individuals and families across America have increased their recycling efforts at home. Some are taking it a few steps further by staying at environmentally friendly hotels and searching for recycling centers while traveling.
Many travel websites will help locate recycling centers across the United States. The search engine Google offers one of these services called Google Maps.
This service is extremely effective because search results include the names, addresses, phone numbers, and maps of the nearest recycling centers to your location. Google Maps is a free service, and is extremely easy to use.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bag or box
  1. Step 1

Visit www.maps.google.com. Enter the address of your destination in the box at the top of the page, then click on "Search Maps."

  2. Step 2

After you see your travel destination on the map, delete the destination address from the box at the top of the page. Enter the words "recycling center" in place of the destination address and click on "Search Maps."

  3. Step 3

View the list of recycling centers on the left hand side of the page, and note their locations on the map on right hand side. The map will show you the distance between your destination and the nearest recycling centers.

  4. Step 4

Designate a place in your car or RV as a "recycle spot." Store all of your recyclable items in a bag or box in between trips to the recycling centers while traveling.
