JVC Enverio HDD video cameras record their videos in MOD format, which isn't compatible with most video editors. If you want to watch the video on your computer or burn it to a DVD, the MOD file isn't the best format. It needs to be converted to a format compatible with video software, such as MPG.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to "My Computer" and locate the MOD files on your hard drive.

  2. Step 2

Check if the file type extensions are visible. If you see ".mod" after the name of the video, then it is fine. If not, go to the "Tools" tab and select "Folder options." Then, click the "View" tab and uncheck the box that reads "Hide the extensions for known file types."

  3. Step 3

Right click the MOD file and select "Rename."

  4. Step 4

    Change ".mod" to ".mpg."

  5. Step 5

Open the video. The video is now an MPG file and will be recognized by video software.
