Fingernail polish tends to spill, drip and rub off on a lot more than nails. If you're fortunate, these accidents will occur on an easily cleaned surface. Laminate flooring is manufactured to be durable and is much easier to remove stains from than carpet or stained hardwood floors. Removing fingernail polish from a laminate floor is a simple process that anyone can manage, usually with items already in the home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cotton balls or paper towels
  • Acetone-based fingernail polish remover
  • Dish-washing liquid
  • Quart-size spray bottle
  • Soft cloth
  1. Step 1

Dampen a cotton ball or paper towel with acetone-based fingernail polish remover.

  2. Step 2

Wipe an inconspicuous area of flooring with the fingernail polish remover to ensure it will not damage the floor. Wait 10 minutes to see whether any discoloration or other damage occurs.

  3. Step 3

If the floor looks OK, dampen another cotton ball or paper towel with the remover and dab at the fingernail polish to lift it from the floor.

  4. Step 4

Pour 1/4 cup of dish-washing liquid into a quart-size spray bottle and fill the remainder of the bottle with warm water.

  5. Step 5

Spray the soiled area with the cleaner and rub with a soft cloth.

  6. Step 6

Rinse the soiled area with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.

Tips & Warnings
  • If nail polish remover damages your laminate flooring, you can substitute rubbing or denatured alcohol.
