How to Attach a Garden Hose to a Bathroom Sink

Save

Your bathroom sink is typically used for washing your hands and face and brushing your teeth. However, you may find a time where you want to connect an outdoor garden hose to your indoor sink. This may be because you do not have a spout on the outside of the house, or you want to wash your dog with warm water but don't want to clog up the bathtub drain with an overabundance of dog hair. Luckily, it is fairly straightforward to connect your garden hose to your bathroom sink.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Faucet hose adapter
  • Garden hose
  • Inspect the underside of the faucet in your bathroom. Feel to see if there is any screw threading along the inside. If there is, you are in luck. If there is a metal grate over the bottom of the faucet remove it by either twisting it off or by prying it off with a flat head screwdriver. If the area around the bottom of your bathroom faucet is smooth (no grooved thread for a hose to screw into) flat you are out of luck and can't connect the hose to it. If you have any other bathrooms or kitchens you may want to check those faucets.

  • Screw in the faucet hose adapter onto the faucet of the bathroom sink. Make sure the adapter threads straight and is screwed in properly. This it going to keep the faucet from leaking while the garden hose is connected.

  • Attach the end of the garden hose to the outside edge of the faucet hose adapter. Make sure the hose is screwed on tightly.

  • Unwind the garden hose to the outside location you need it Have someone inside (if at all possible) turn on the faucet so you can begin using the garden hose without water spraying everywhere.
