How to Make a Toilet Tissue Holder
No one wants to be stranded on the toilet after they've used up the last sheet of toilet paper and can't spot any extra rolls nearby. Keeping an extra roll of toilet paper on hand can prevent this situation, and a simple holder can be made to keep things tidy and attractive in your bathroom.

1
Buy the wooden craft circle and dowel rod at a craft store. Select a 1-inch-diameter dowel rod that's at least 12 inches long. Select a wooden craft circle that's at least a half-inch thick and 6 to 8 inches in diameter.
-
2
At home, measure the height of a roll of toilet paper and mark the dowel at that height. With a hand saw, cut the dowel 1 to 2 inches higher than the height of the roll.
-
-
3
Paint the wooden craft circle and dowel if you like. Let the paint dry completely.
-
4
Using a ruler, measure half the diameter of the circle to find its center and mark with a pencil.
-
5
Drill a hole that is not quite 1 inch.
-
6
Apply a small amount of wood glue around the hole.
-
7
Lay the newly drilled wooden craft circle on a flat surface, and push the dowel through the hole until the bottom of the dowel is even with the bottom of the wooden circle. Adjust the hole with the drill as needed. The dowel should fit tightly into the hole so it can't move.

Use a hot glue gun to adorn the base of the toilet tissue holder with lace, ribbon or other decoration.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to make a recycled tissue holder that takes even less time and skill to make, simply use the plastic spindle that's part of the packaging for burnable CDs or DVDs. The toilet paper can fit perfectly on this spindle, and it can be decorated and disguised with ribbons, lace and fake flowers. To keep things inconspicuous, you may want to crochet a cover for your toilet tissue holder as well.
