How to Open a Lock on a Sentry Safe With No Key

Sentry Safe has been a manufacturer of safes for more than 75 years. The company produces many different types of safes in a variety of sizes and security levels to meet your individual needs. Certain models require a key to be used in conjunction with the combination, while others do not. Opening a Sentry Safe combination lock without a key depends on whether your safe contains a three-digit lock or a four-digit lock.

Instructions

Opening a Three-Digit Combination Lock

1. Turn the combination dial to the starting position of zero.

2. Twist the combination dial counterclockwise three times. On the third turn, stop the dial on the first number in your combination.

3. Turn the dial clockwise two times. On the second turn, stop on the second number in your combination.

4. Rotate the dial counterclockwise once, stopping on the final number in your combination. Pull the handle downward to open the safe.

Opening a Four-Digit Combination Lock

1. Return the dial to the zero position.

2. Turn the dial counterclockwise four times. On the fourth revolution, stop the dial when you reach the first number in your combination.

3. Spin the dial three times in a clockwise direction, stopping on the second number of your combination during the third turn.

4. Turn the combination dial counterclockwise twice. During the second turn, stop when you reach the third number in your combination.

5. Turn the dial clockwise until you reach the last number in your combination. Open the door of your safe by pulling the handle in a downward motion.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have lost the combination to your safe, Sentry requires a notarized letter identifying you as the owner of the safe before they will release the number to you. If you have previously registered your combination on the Sentry website, you can retrieve your combination by logging into your account.

• To change the combination of your safe, call Sentry at 1-800-828-1438 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST.
