How to Install a Cavalier Air Intake

The air intake system on a Chevrolet Cavalier funnels a massive amount of air to the engine. The intake system itself is essentially nothing more that a large piece of plastic tubing with an air filter on one end that draws in air through vacuum pressure. The intake system uses a cleaning element to clean the air before it reaches the engine (so that no contaminates enter the engine).

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Align the open intake tubing with the end of the throttle body.

  2. Step 2

Slide the tubing over the throttle body, and secure it to the throttle body with the hose clamp on the end of the intake tubing. Turn the screw on the hose clamp clockwise with a screwdriver until the tubing is tight on the end of the throttle body.

  3. Step 3

Secure the air intake to the body with the mounting screws. There is a mounting bracket midway down the tubing and another bracket at the air box end of the intake. Use the factory mounting screws and a socket wrench (10 mm, for most Cavaliers) to secure the intake tubing at these locations.
