How to Make Your Own Football Uniform
Whether for Halloween, a pickup game in the yard or a really big rivalry game featuring your favorite team, making your own football uniform at home is a must for any young football player or fan. The process is easy and fun, and the uniform can be made from many items already found around the home. There is no better way to show team spirit, and the kids always get a kick out of making their uniforms themselves.

1
Paint a generic, plastic football helmet with your team's colors. (If you have team logo stickers, you can use those as well). Attach the mouth guard to the face mask.

2
Use a game jersey for your uniform. Paint an appropriately colored T-shirt if a game jersey is not an option. Paint your favorite number, and your last name, on the back of the jersey. The jersey should be fairly tight-fitting.

3
Place two small hand towels, folded carefully, on the top of your shoulders. Run a strip of medical tape around the towel and under your arm pit to keep the "shoulder pads" in place. Put your jersey on over the shoulder pads.

4
Design your football pants. If you do not already have lace-up football pants, leggings or sweat pants will work fine. Paint any appropriate stripes or colors onto your pants. If the pants are long, be sure to tuck them into your socks, so they appear knee-length. Pants should be fairly tight-fitting.

5
Cut out two cardboard rectangles for thigh pads, and two smaller squares for knee pads. Tape these around your legs in the appropriate places, or attach them to the inside of your football pants.
-
6
Put on a pair of long, white tube socks. If necessary, paint stripes on the socks. Wearing a pair of athletic cleats or sneakers will finish off the uniform.

Tips & Warnings
Placing a strip of black face paint beneath each eye will give you an authentic look. Use white medical tape for fingers, wrists, or forearms to simulate injuries. Carrying around a football will complete the uniform, and leave no doubt as to what you are trying to achieve.
