Step 1
Take a peak at their wedding registry. Many stores leave the wedding registry up long after the couple has married. Check out their registry and see if there are items that were on their list that they didn't receive. Since most guests give money at weddings chances are you will find several items still on the registry. And the best part is you can check just about any gift registry online by visiting the store's website.
Be sure to save the receipt just in case the couple ended up purchasing the item themselves. As an alternative you can give them a gift card to that store. After all, they chose the store for their wedding registry so you know they will find plenty of other items they may want or need. -
Step 2
Add to their holiday collection. Holiday themed items make great newlywed gifts since it can take years for the average couple to build up a collection of Christmas ornaments. Giving special Christmas ornaments or other holiday themed gifts is a great way to commemorate their first Christmas together; not to mention help with their collection. You could give a variety of holiday themed gifts depending on your budget from a single Christmas ornament to a holiday quilt.
-
Step 3
Help the newlyweds build a game collection. From classic board games such as Monopoly to more recent games that have gained in popularity; games make great newlywed gifts for Christmas or anytime.
-
Step 4
Combine personal with practical. Towels, dishes, sheets and other household items are practical newlywed gifts but it is also nice to give something a bit more personal. A great way to accomplish this is to give the newlyweds something practical they can use as a together gift as well as a small gift that suits their individual tastes separately.
