Looking for an interesting way to host a Halloween party? Try throwing a BYOP party. Bring Your Own Pumpkin. Ask your guests to bring a pumpkin to carve at your party. Not only will this idea allow your guests to creatively express themselves, but it will bring you all together in celebration of this fine Fall Holiday.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Pumpkin of your own to carve
  • Carving utensils
  • Carving patterns
  • Newspaper
  1. Step 1

Make or buy Halloween theme invitations to send to your guests. Make sure to indicate on the invitation that each guest must bring their own pumpkin to carve.

  2. Step 2

On the day of your party, make sure you have a table or tables fully lined with newspaper. Carving pumpkins can be juicy and messy. Also place trash cans close to the table so your guests can gut the pumpkin without making a mess. Now arm your table(s) with carving utensils and carving patterns.

  3. Step 3

When your guests arrive, mingle and visit with them before jumping right into carving pumpkins. If you have prepared snacks, show them where it is and offer them something to drink.

  4. Step 4

Once you and your guests are ready to start carving, show them where the utensils are and available patterns. Then let the carving begin!

  5. Step 5

Once the party is over, clean-up should be a cinch because you used newspaper to line the table(s).

Tips & Warnings
  • You may want to have some tea light candles on hand so your guests can see what their pumpkin looks like lit up.
  • To make the party more interesting, give out awards for most creative pumpkin or scariest pumpkin.
  • If children are attending the party, watch them closely when they use any cutting utensils.
