Is your iPod acting funny, or just freezing up? Before you take it into the nearest Apple store for maintenance, try this method.

This method should work for any iPod model to date. Including video iPods, iPod Nanos, and various older model iPods.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your iPod
  • Your thumbs
  • About 15 seconds of your time
  1. Step 1

Make sure your iPod is on. If the screen is frozen or the OS is acting strange, relax, and proceed to Step 2.

  2. Step 2

Hold the iPod in your hand. Then with you thumbs, simultaneously press and HOLD down the MENU and select button in the middle (as demonstrated in the picture above) for a about 10-15 seconds. The screen should turn black and a gray apple image will appear in the middle of the screen.

  3. Step 3

That's it! You iPod should be working fine now. Congratulate yourself on saving yourself a trip to the Apple store, and the bill!
If all else fails and problems ensue, you may need to consider taking your iPod in for real maintenance. Or just buy the newest model, since chances are you model may be outdated.
