At Christmas trains around the U.S. have special rides. Finding fun on a train to the North Pole with your family can be found on trains across the United States. From the East Coast to the West Coast Santa is making appearances on trains. Through wild snowy wildernesses to warm topical vacation spots, there are passengers on trains drinking hot chocolate and enjoying rides to the North Pole. So taking a special Christmas train ride could begin right at your local train station or could be the finale of a spectacular Christmas vacation.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    See the Grand Canyon on the Polar Express leaving from Williams Depot in Arizona.

  2. Step 2

    Go skiing in Colorado and stop in for the Santa Claus Special at Pike’s Peak Cog Railway. Not only will your family enjoy Christmas fun but experience a part of history in this historic place.

  3. Step 3

    Visit Alaska and take the Seward Holiday Train for a truly snowy Christmas.

  4. Step 4

    Enjoy an East Coast Santa Train in New Hampshire. Ride the Hobo Railroad sipping hot chocolate, munching cookies, and opening your Christmas gift from the railroad.

  5. Step 5

    Warm up in Florida before heading to the North Pole on the North Pole Express leaving from the Florida Railroad Museum in Parrish, Florida. The Santa Claus Special is also running in this warm vacation spot.

  6. Step 6

    Look in your own back yard for special train rides sponsored by Amtrak or local train museums.

  7. Step 7

    Make reservations early. Some Christmas train rides such as the Polar Express through the Grand Canyon fill up as far as a year in advance.
