Things You'll Need:
- tote bags or a laundry basket
-
Step 1
Remove the cold food first, so you can shut down the refrigerator. I load it into a laundry basket or some big canvas tote bags to carry into the house. Make sure the laundry basket is lightweight and fits easily through the narrow RV door.
-
Step 2
Take in essentials that you'll need that day or the next morning. This includes pills, toiletries and other daily use items.
If you're exhausted from traveling, everything else can wait for the next day. -
Step 3
Bring in the clothing. The basket or tote bags make it easier to haul in the shoes, stacks of clothes and other items.
-
Step 4
If you can afford duplicated items (in the house and in the RV), leave some things in the camper. This makes it easier to get on the road the next time. Be sure these are items that won't get spoiled by extremes of heat or cold.
-
Step 5
Take in items that need cleaning. Wash the dishes and linens, then return these to the RV. Have one spot inside the house where you stack these items, then carry them all out at once in one load.
-
Step 6
Clean the RV with cleaning supplies that you keep stocked in there. Put crumpled newspaper in the refrigerator after it's cleaned to keep it fresh. Place the motorhome or camper in storage until the next trip.

on 10/28/2009 Great tips and so organized! We used to do a lot of camping, and had to learn these things through trial and error (sometimes mostly error!), so thanks for sharing with those who are like us. *5

on 10/28/2009 Very good tips! We even stored our fishing equipment in the camper for our next trip camping and fishing. I have friends that camp so will pass this on to them. Gail
