Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Birthday Cards
- Carnations
- Birthstone Jewelry
- Garnet Jewelry
Step1
Consider giving jewelry with January's traditional and modern birthstone, garnet. Or, if you would rather give a mystical birthstone, choose emerald jewelry.
Step2
Give a bouquet of carnations, January's flower, if the receiver would enjoy a sweet-smelling gift.
Step3
Consider a gift that reflects the receiver's astrological sign. Capricorns, born between December 22 and January 19, are known for practicality and a clear mind. An Aquarius, born between January 19 and February 18, is typically marked by creativity and a friendly nature. You may want to choose gifts accordingly.
Step4
Decide whether you want to look for post-holiday sales to find an inexpensive present, or purchase the gift during December to ensure that the item you wish to buy does not sell out.
Step5
Pay attention to whether the recipient showed disappointment over not getting a desired gift for the December holidays, and select that item for his or her birthday.
Step6
If the birthday falls around January 1, an exciting night out for New Year's Eve could make a great birthday gift.

on 1/26/2006 For people with January 1 birthdays(like me), we feel very hurt when everyone forgets our birthdays or everyone is too tired form New Years eve to celebrate with us. We all understand everyone is broke from Christmas, but the happy birthday/merry Christmas presents really suck. Keep in mind that just because our birthdays are a week after Christmas, we still want to feel remembered and loved on our day.

on 11/22/2005 I'm a capricorn and I enjoy gifts with love, not common things other people have. We want personalized, practical things so we can cherish them forever.

on 2/12/2007 If you know that the person always get jipped around his/her birthday because it falls after the holidays and everyone is broke (like myself)-BE THOUGHTFUL and aware of what that person is really into. Us caps don't always need expensive items-we are sentimental beings. Get to know us better-it is really not difficult to get a present that is practical and awesome-if you know the person.

on 11/22/2005 Avoid the old cop-out of writing "Merry X-mas/Happy Birthday" on the tag of the same gift, unless you're doubling them up for something extra special!

on 11/22/2005 Think back and remember what they got for Christmas, perhaps a personal planner might come in handy for the new year or match the gift to a previous one.
