  1. How to Prevent the Spread of HPV

    • 1

The HPV infection can be transmitted from person to person through sexual contact. If you have this infection, you can reduce the risk of spreading it to other people by practicing sexual abstinence. Which means not having sexual relations with anyone.

    • 2

A person infected with HPV can avoid spreading it by limiting the number of people he has sex with. Maintaining a monogamous relationship or having sexual relations with one person will decrease the risk of spreading it to others.

    • 3

If you have the HPV infection, use a condom when you have sex. The condoms can reduce the risk of spreading the infection but since it cannot cover the entire genitalia, there is still a risk of transmission through skin to skin contact.

    • 4

Get screened for sexually transmitted diseases regularly. This will help you know your HPV infection status. So if you become positive for the HPV infection, you can protect others by adopting preventive measures such as informing sexual partners to get tested and treated.

    • 5

The most effective way of preventing the spread of HPV is to get vaccinated against it. If you do not contract the infection, then you can't spread it.
