How to Clean Brick Tile

Brick tile gives your kitchen or any other room in your home a distinct, custom look. However, many homeowners hesitate to install brick tile floors due to the concerns over maintenance and upkeep. Such trepidation is somewhat well-founded--after all, brick is a highly porous material, as is the grout the holds it together. This can make brick and brick tile troublesome to clean. However, there are easy solutions that will make a brick tile floor a viable option.

Things You'll Need:

  • Brick sealer
  • Vacuum
  • Wet mop
  • Mild detergent
  1. Step 1

    Seal your brick tile floor. This will add a colorless, protective coating on your floor that will make it much easier to clean. Buy a quality brick masonry sealer from your hardware store and follow the instructions carefully.

  2. Step 2

    Vacuum sealed brick tile floors regularly. This will remove dirt and dust.

  3. Step 3

    Wet mop the floor after vacuuming. Use clear, clean water for regular cleanups.

  4. Step 4

    Use a solution of mild dish detergent and water for heavy soil. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the cleaning solution with clear water.

  • You also can clean brick tile floors with a solution of one cup of white vinegar mixed in one gallon of warm water.
