Instructions

    • 1

Line a baking sheet with a sheet of waxed paper. Allow 1 to 2 inches of the waxed paper to hang over the side to make sure the entire cookie sheet is covered.

    • 2

Chop nuts or crush peppermint candies prior to melting the chocolate. Chop nuts in a food processor or on a cutting board with a sharp knife. Crush candy by placing in a plastic bag and rolling with a rolling pin.

    • 3

Place the white chocolate morsels in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the chocolate on 70 percent power for one minute and stir. Continue to microwave for 30 seconds at a time until smooth, stirring between each melting. Do not overheat.

    • 4

Pour the melted chocolate onto a covered cookie sheet and spread to a desired thickness. If using candy, strain out the candy dust into the chocolate prior to pouring by sifting the crushed candies through a strainer while holding it over the melted chocolate.

    • 5

Sprinkle chopped nuts or crushed candy immediately onto the chocolate. Press pieces lightly into the chocolate to keep them in place. Cool for approximately one hour or place in the freezer to speed the process. Break chocolate bark into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Tips & Warnings

  • Good nut choices are macadamia, walnut and pecans. Do not store chocolate bark in warm locations, as it will melt. Room temperature or cool locations are best for storage. The bark will store for 1 to 2 weeks. Freeze bark for longer storage times. Use milk chocolate or dark chocolate along with the white chocolate for a two-tone chocolate bark. Melt the dark chocolate first and spread on the bottom of the cookie sheet. Melt the white chocolate and add to the top of the dark chocolate. Swirl the two chocolates lightly with a knife, if desired. Continue by adding nuts or candy. Set high-wattage microwaves at 50 percent power, as heating the chocolate too hot will cause it to clump.
