Test your gauge. The gauge for this washable pad is 20 stitches and 26 rows for 4 inches in stocking stitch. It is always important to test the gauge of your product before you start. When you match your gauge to the instructions, the size of your finished product will be correct.

Cast on 70 stitches. Use any cast on method that you are comfortable with.

Row 1: Knit all the way across.

Rows 2, 3, and 4: Purl all the way across.

Rows 5 and 6: Knit all the way across.

Repeat the last 6 rows until the piece measures 4 inches from the beginning. End the pattern on Row 1.

Cast off knitwise. Leave a long tail to sew up the edges.
