Affirmations are statements or intentions that can be read silently or out loud in an attempt to realign thoughts and words with a positive vibration. Creating an affirmation list can help you concentrate your thoughts, feelings and energy on the people, places, material possessions and experiences you would like to attract into your life. An affirmation list can also serve as a reminder to incorporate positive intentions at different intervals throughout your daily routine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pen
  • Paper
  1. Step 1

Establish a life area to work on. Review the various aspects of your life, such as health, finances, career and romantic relationships. Decide which component is most out of balance and declare it as the subject of your affirmation list.

  2. Step 2

Write one affirmation for your area of choice. Structure the statement of intent in the present tense and avoid using future comments like "I will ... ." Use the first person point-of-view, as in, "I am ..." or "The universe brings me... ." Focus on what you want, not what you don't want. Instead of noting, "I don't want to be poor," you can write, "I attract great abundance, prosperous opportunities and financial freedom into my life every day."

  3. Step 3

List nine more affirmations. Analyze your total of 10 affirmations and ensure they follow the guidelines of present tense, personal voice and positive desires.

  4. Step 4

Make your affirmation list durable and readily available. Record your affirmation list on paper that is sturdy or can be laminated. Post copies of the list in places that remind you to realign your thoughts and emotions to your objectives. Tape a list to your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, car console, desk, office space and bedside table.

  5. Step 5

Develop the habit of saying affirmations. Integrate your affirmation statements into a daily routine. Retrieve your list and verbalize your intent before you leave the house in the morning, during a mid-morning break, at lunch-time, for an afternoon break and at night before falling asleep. You can also say your affirmations at stops during commutes or listen to them play from a recording device. If you use a computer often, design the background with a list of your affirmations.

  6. Step 6

Match happy emotions with your affirmative thoughts. Healthy, positive feelings carry an uplifting energy and increase manifestation power. At first you may say your affirmations as if they were something to check off in your to-do box. Over time, however, you will start to sense a greater connection to your desires. Imagine how you would feel and what you would see, taste, touch, smell, hear and experience when your affirmations or intentions come to fruition.

Tips & Warnings
  • Raise the vibration of your affirmations by saying or singing them while dancing, playing an instrument or listening to music. Include your family, friends, co-workers, students or others in your life in declaring daily affirmations. Create lists for all life areas that could use improvement. If you are not sure which direction to take in life, center your affirmations on connecting with your true purpose and higher calling.
  • Though affirmations can help you decide on a specific goal and work on attracting it into your life, it is important to remain flexible with how the process evolves and the ultimate outcome. If you go with the flow of events while intending for the highest and best results, you are more likely to receive what you want or even something better.
