Things You'll Need:
- Screwdriver
- Wrench
-
Step 1
Unplug the electrical cord on the Hayward pump from the electrical outlet.
-
Step 2
Close the water valve on the pool skimmer and close the valve on the pool pump. This will stop any water from entering the pump and avoid unnecessary water loss.
-
Step 3
Loosen the hose clamp on the hose that connects the pool skimmer to the pool pump using a screwdriver. Remove the hose from the pool pump once the hose clamp is loose enough to do so.
-
Step 4
Determine the type of connection you have from the Hayward pump to the pool filter. If you have a pool hose, use a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the filter. If you have a connector unit on your Hayward pump connecting it to the pool filter, use a wrench to unscrew the connector from the pool filter.
-
Step 5
Remove the pump by picking it up. If the pump is broken, dispose of it properly according to your county regulations for machinery. If you are closing your pool, be sure to store the pool pump in a safe place such as a basement, garage or shed.
