How to Update DVD Shrink
DVD Shrink is a program used to shrink the video files of ripped DVDs to smaller, more manageable sizes. It is often used in conjunction with programs like DVD Decrypter, Mac the Ripper, DVDfab and ImgBurn. It has not been in active development since 2005, however, when the publishers of DVD Shrink were threatened with a lawsuit by the Motion Picture Alliance of America (MPAA). Although it is an older program, it is still very serviceable and many unofficial updates exist for it today.

1
Download the latest version of DVD Shrink from a host website. Due to legal troubles, it can no longer be hosted on dvdshrink.org, but there are several mirrors where you can download it across the Internet. See the resources section for options.

2
Read the official DVD Shrink forums for user-created scripts, add-ons and modifications to the original program. Lifehacker.com has made an excellent utility to use in conjunction with DVD Shrink called DVD Rip. Using another program called ImgBurn, DVD Rip will rip and re-size a dual layer DVD to a single layer DVD with one mouse click.

Consider using DVDFab Decrypter, which is being developed by the same team who initially designed DVD Shrink. DVDFab Decrypter is a spiritual successor to DVD Shrink but it is just as powerful with even more features than the original DVD Shrink. It is not freeware but the shareware version retains much of the functionality of the paid version.
