Using a socket wrench, remove the two nuts on the side of the casing, near the handle, that attach the cover to the blade. Remove the cover of the casing once the nuts are completely removed. This will reveal the drive socket assembly, bar and chain of the saw.

Notice the tension wheel located just inside the bar, and use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the screw to the left and release some of that tension. Pull the chain away from the grooves of the bar. Ensure that all of the grooves are removed all the way down the bar until the chain is free.

Work the chain loose from the drive sprocket once it is free from the bar by pulling it over the drive sprocket. The drive sprocket is the wheel that is located just under the handle.

Now pull off the bar, or blade, and check to see if repairs or replacements are needed before replacing the chain. Some simple repairs can then be made such as if the bar bent can sometimes be bent back into place. If grooves are missing, then a replacement is needed.
